Beachcomber has been concerned about environmental stewardship from the start. Our beginnings on the Pacific West Coast gave us a love for the natural rainforest and our pristine environment. The Green Hot Tub
There’s a lot of talk these days about green products. A Beachcomber hot tub is ‘green’, with special initiatives that are built into our products to make them enjoyable, and energy efficient. We continue to innovate our technology to bring you the safest, most efficient hot tub you can buy - as well as making sure that the day to day running of our business is environmentally responsible. We are doing all we can to conserve, reduce waste and recycle.
These are some of our ongoing initiatives to manage our carbon footprint:
Corporate Recycling
For many years, Beachcomber has recycled at each corporate office. In the last year we’ve recycled more than 69 metric tonnes of paper and cardboard products, recycled in huge bins, at each of our offices and at each employee’s desk, and we are working to reduce the amount of paper that we use in the first place. More than ever, we use email to review files and meetings, without using paper. We use up small off cuts of acrylic sheet to build sample boards for our stores. We reuse wooden skids rather than discarding them. Last year, we started a skid-reuse program with our stores to save resources. We return unused or unwanted products rather than discarding them. Our engineering team works hard to ensure that we actively recycle wherever we can.
Lighting System Efficiency
Beachcomber’s new lighting system is super efficient, giving you years of enjoyment for literally pennies. This engineering is amazing, when you take into consideration the number of light bulbs that burn out, and have to be replaced in your home every year. Take for example our Eclipse™ Topside Lighting package, Garden EverLite™, EverLite™ Underwater Moodlighting and Guiding Lite™ for steps - they all cost less than a dollar per year to enjoy. You can rest assured that as you enjoy your hot tub, it is using the minimum energy possible. In everything we do, we aim to achieve the highest efficiency through advanced technology.
Enviroskirt Cabinetry
In the manufacturing of hot tubs, cedar used to be the material of choice for cabinetry; it was chosen for its natural resistance to decay and rot. But now, Beachcomber’s standard equipment is the Enviroskirt Cabinetry, milled and finished with our traditional tongue and groove design for superior strength, beauty and longevity. It’s even embossed to give a real wood grain look. This 100% synthetic material allows us to enjoy our pristine forests, not cut them down.
Water Based Foam for 4WALL Insulation
Beachcomber’s Limited Edition hot tubs are 100% foam filled to conserve energy. The penetration of moisture and air is blocked with full foam, reducing heat loss. We use a specially formulated foam product that is made right in our own factory; it is water based, and it fills every nook and cranny with energy saving foam.
Energy Efficient Design
Protec construction moves the hot tub equipment outside of the hot tub cavity, and underneath an insulated safety step. This allows the equipment to run at proper temperature, ensuring long equipment life, and helps keep the water at constant temperature. Along with 4WALL Insulation, you get a hot tub that is tightly built, efficient, and insulated just like your home.
ClearTech UV Water Care System
This is an all new way of cleaning water. Ultra Violet technology has been used in drinking water applications in communities around the world for about 60 years. Now, it’s available in our hot tubs. The powerful, built in UV light completely destroys bacteria, pathogens, viruses and any living organisms in the water – this puts sterilized, clean water back through the WaterPorts and into your water. ClearTech helps keep your water clean, clear and safe and produces no chemical byproducts whatsoever.
