Your local Beachcomber store has a Site Survey Template Kit to measure the space for your new hot tub at your home. It’s a simple and effective way to plan where your hot tub will go. Preparing for drainage and other factors help you choose the best spot.
Your Beachcomber Hot Tub comes standard with the Perma-Seal Foundation. This special base ‘cap’ keeps rodents or insects out. Thermoformed from quality ABS plastic, your Beachcomber Hot Tub is an integrated unit that can sit on most any level area. Ensure that your site is stable, level and flat. There are many ways to put down a solid foundation that will last for many years. Here’s a couple of ideas:
Patio Blocks
This is an easy and quick way to lay down a foundation for your new hot tub. From 12 inch square tiles to the 24 inch tiles, patio blocks from a local building center are easy to lay down with some sand, a perimeter border, a long 2 x 4 and a level.
Cement Pad or Gravel
Even though it’s not required, some people opt to have a cement pad poured for their Beachcomber Hot Tub. This can be a very nice foundation that will last indefinitely. Cement pads can be costly, but are a nice install that will never break down. Crushed gravel can also work well.
Railroad Ties
Any kind of wood block can also make an good pad for your hot tub. But no matter what you choose, make sure it’s level and flat and allows for good drainage.
Wood Decks
Check with your local building codes for the correct parameters. They can tell you the details for proper support construction required. The average size hot tub filled with water can weigh as much as the car in your driveway; it must be supported properly to ensure a safe and reliable installation.
Sunken hot tubs
If you are planning to sink your hot tub into a deck, it’s always best to keep the top 21” of the hot tub exposed the best height for entry and exit. Keeping your spa exposed will promote safe use of your hot tub.

Inside or Outside?
In our opinion, it’s best to enjoy a hot tub outside under the stars. If you choose to place it inside a gazebo, choose a unit that allows extra room for more than just the hot tub. A little extra room for a café table and chair set, and a towel or robe rack can complete your experience. If you install your spa indoors, ensure that your contractor provides proper ventilation according to your local building codes.
Location: just 10 feet from your back door
Your spa gives you affordable pleasure any time you want it. It’s like a world class resort - right in the comfort of your own back yard. Situate your hot tub as close to your home access door as possible. Keeping your hot tub close to a patio or sundeck door will help you make the most of your Beachcomber when it’s cold at night, or in any weather. Here are some quick tips for you to place your hot tub for the very best enjoyment:
Neighbors
Even though you love your neighbors and get along with them famously, you probably do not want them gazing at you while you try to relax and get away from it all. Privacy alone can give you the relaxation and calm that we need so badly in this busy world. If there are trees or fences that may be replaced or moved in the future, consider what your environment will be like now and tomorrow from outside environments looking in.
Trees and Foliage
Deciduous and coniferous trees can leave lots of deposits behind, from sap, to needles and leaves. Birds are also happy to have them there – but you might not be! If there is a wind storm, branches could damage your hot tub. Ensure that your hot tub is placed so that you can enjoy it for years to come.
