Prepping Your Hot Tub For Winter

Prepping Your Hot Tub For Winter

There’s nothing quite like jumping into a nice warm Beachcomber Hot Tub to escape the cold, as the snow and rain falls around you. While we may not be in the midst of the winter freeze quite yet, the colder months are quickly approaching. Before it gets too cold, it’s important to take a few maintenance steps to prep your hot tub for the winter months ahead.

Check the below off your list to ensure you and your family can enjoy your Beachcomber hot tub all winter long!

Drain & Refill Your Hot Tub Water:

We recommend draining and refilling your Beachcomber Hot Tub 3 or 4 times a year. If you have a higher bather frequency, you may need to add one more cleaning. Trying to change the water when it is snowing heavily outside is very difficult, and even more unpleasant. That’s why the fall is a great time to give your hot tub a quick refresh. Cleaning and refilling your hot tub will help to minimize the maintenance needed to keep it running perfectly all winter long. It’s also important to clean or replace your hot tub filters, as the fall foliage can cause added wear. Fresh water and clean filters together ensure that your hot tub runs smoothly!

Invest In A Good Cover:

The majority of temperature loss in a hot tub will occur at the surface of the water. Before the winter cold hits, make sure to check the condition and insulation of your hot tub cover. A high-quality hot tub cover not only adds to the look of your hot tub, it is also critical to its performance. Old hot tub covers often become water-logged, making them heavy to move and inefficient in trapping heat in. Once a hot tub cover is no longer easy to move or capable of sealing in heat, it will start costing you more in heating bill expenses, and more time spent maintaining clean and healthy hot tub water.

Check In On The Water Levels:

Periodically, you should check your water levels in your hot tub over the winter, especially if you haven’t used it in a few weeks. If the water level drops too low your pump and heater could shut down resulting in frozen water and possible damage to your hot tub. By taking a few steps now, you'll be able to get the most out of your Beachcomber Hot Tub, when you need it most!
